Our client, a National Charity, is seeking an experienced Press Officer to join their dynamic team on a temporary basis.
The successful Press officer will be responsible for generating all national, regional print and broadcast coverage for the charity, whilst taking on management responsibilities for press officers and volunteers under the direction of the Head of Press. The senior press officer will also contribute to the charity's newsletter and other publications as required.
The appointed Press Officer's duties will include; preparing plans for media campaigns, writing press releases and press packs, and contact journalists when required. The senior press officer will be expected to manage their own work loads whilst working to deadlines and responding to all media enquiries, as well as arranging the distribution of press materials to target media and ensure coverage is monitored and evaluated.
The newly appointed Press Officer must demonstrate experience of writing strong copy in a variety of styles, e.g. press releases, feature articles, web and excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
A positive approach to 'selling' stories to the media is paramount so confidence, a good telephone manner and determination are key characteristics, as is an understanding of what makes journalists tick.
