Job Description

A unique and high profile Advisory body that has been tasked with delivering a major national government reform, is looking for a Media Manager to join their Communications and Engagement team.

The Company

  • Non-Departmental Public Body
  • Established to assist with the implementation and roll out of a major scheme and government reform programme
  • Consists of an exceptional team of talented individuals from the commercial world
  • Based in the Corporate Affairs Team who are responsible for the authority's relationships with the media and with stakeholders.

The Role

  • Media Manager based in Corporate Affairs Team of the Communications and Engagement Department
  • Day to day running of the Press Office
  • Reporting to Head of Media and PR, and working with the Stakeholder Management Team
  • Build relationships with key target journalists
  • Support public launches of key milestones (writing press releases, organising interviews, supporting spokespeople)
  • Develop and deliver integrated, targeted media strategies
  • Provide briefings and advice on approach and messages
  • Direct support at interviews and events
  • Identify promotional activities
  • Font line press officer, respond to media enquiries
  • Devise tools and activities for message consistency
  • Media reporting
  • Deputise for Head of Media and PR

The Candidate

  • Front line experience of working with high profile, senior journalists
  • Used to handling fast moving, high profile national issues or campaigns
  • Ideally financial services experience as a journalist or in a busy in-house press office
  • Government/Public sector experience useful
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven creative flair
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Responsible, a team player
  • Enthusiastic and hands-on with a 'can do' attitude
  • Results orientated, ability to cope under pressure
  • Qualifications in journalism and /or PR or equivalent experience
