Job Description

The Electrical Safety Council is a UK charity committed to reducing deaths and injuries caused by electrical accidents. We run general awareness campaigns and events to help educate the public about the dangers of electricity as well as initiatives covering specific areas of risk such as product, fire and child safety.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Communications Executive to join the team and develop your existing PR and communications skills by working on our internal and external communications projects. Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting the Corporate Communications Manager in the implementation of external and internal corporate communications, including media relations
Supporting the production and distribution of communications and media materials within timescales and budgets and assist with annual review of collateral
Drafting articles/copy for publications, leaflets and magazines
Helping to produce fortnightly staff e-newsletters, co-ordinating content from internal stakeholders
Assisting with the management of the corporate website, adding press releases and news items and amending current pages as required, producing analytics reports and assisting with SEO
Helping to develop and then maintaining social media channels
Assisting in the development and implementation of research projects, liaising with agencies and producing evaluation reports for internal use
Liaising with retained media relations agency to maintain press lists and provide support for media follow up
Ensuring that the media is monitored and circulating relevant stories to colleagues
Supporting and helping to organise engagement with journalists
Liaising with agencies, co-ordinating meetings, taking and distributing notes when required and chasing up action points
Taking and handling enquiries from the consumer helpline alongside the other executives, escalating requests to the relevant manager where appropriate.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a communications role and be a confident communicator with excellent writing skills and attention to detail. You should also have some experience of working with content management systems and a demonstrable interest in digital marketing.

You will also have strong administrative, planning and organisational skills, and a proactive and flexible approach to work.
