A Unique PR Challenge
PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER
West Yorkshire Competitive Package
Leeds & Bradford International Airport are moving through a period of significant change and growth and the pace will increase. Growth will be achieved by delivering a three point strategic plan aimed at creating new destinations, developing an improved commercial offer supported by major investment, both airside and landside – all of this will increase passenger numbers through new medium and long haul destinations.
This momentous transition is being led by an executive team which includes a dynamic and creative Aviation and Commercial Director. He is looking to take business thinking to a new and different level and recognises the vital part internal and external stakeholders play in the growth agenda. A key organisational move is to appoint a Public Relations professional who will be required to clearly communicate the airport’s positioning through targeted, powerful messages, utilising all the appropriate media and lines of communication available. This person will play a vital role in raising the profile of the airport, which enjoys loyalty from the local community, yet further potential remains un-tapped.
This is a broad role and this person will be the primary media contact within the organisation. They will be responsible for communications, planning and strategy and will raise the quality and quantity of coverage, creating real awareness and reinforcement of the LBIA brand. They will bring co-ordination and clarity to the PR area and assist in driving media relations to the highest possible standards, exploiting every available opportunity.
Responsibilities will include:
• Liaison with team members and external agencies on plans for PR
• Monitoring and reporting on press coverage
• Research/information gathering
• The development of creative relationships with key media targets
• Nominated filter or spokesperson for the Airport
• Impact on Website communications
The incumbent will have what it takes to work inventively with marketing and commercial teams to identify PR opportunities and deliver on budget and exceed targets. They will develop and lead features programmes, photocalls and oversee all media activity. They will exploit the profile of the airport and ensure media coverage on a wide range of activities at a local and national level.
The individual we seek must be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate powerfully in writing, editing and verbal presentation. They will have a record of delivering strategic and tactical PR and bring with them experience gained in either corporate or within an agency environment. Creatively communicating key business messages to a diverse audience is a significant part of this newly designed and exciting role.
